The story of two silly monkeys

Posted on Updated on

The story of two silly monkeys

Two silly monkeys – one fat, one thin
Worked in a circus but all they did was grin
When their turn came to perform
And entertain the crowd
The monkeys did not perform
And left amidst the boos of the crowd

They blamed it on the stage
And the lack of comfort it gave
And how the music was too loud
Which caused them to frown

They cribbed night and day
And complained instead of doing the work the owners gave
Ultimately the silly monkeys were shot
Circus owners considered them a blotch

Two silly monkeys – one fat, one thin
Ended their lives, the fat one thrown in the gutter and the thin one in a bin
The story of two silly monkeys should teach us all
To do their tasks properly or be prepared to be shot

Choices

Why do you want to fight when you can give up and just cry?
Why do you want to resist when its easy to accept and lead a peaceful life?
Why strive for excellence when mediocrity is ok and just fine?

Is it a man making these choices
Or are your choices making you a man?

The Sad Child

The Sad Child

Mother sitting with a child
A piece of paper in hand and tension in her mind
She is sad, she is angry
She can’t understand why
Her daughter won’t try
And learn her lessons for exams
Is it really so difficult – she cries out and asks…

She really wants her child to succeed in life
Have good education, get a good job and lead a comfortable life
But the child is probably too young to understand this formality
Without getting good grades, you won’t succeed – that unfortunately is the stark reality

Her daughter, a seven year old child
Gets scared and begins to cry
And replies…
I study hard and learn my lesson, mother
But get confused while writing the exam- was it this or the other?

She looks at her mother and feels sad
Her mother is disappointed in her and thinks she’s bad
She really wants to do well and make her mother proud
If only her mind would work well in exams and not have so many doubts

She is really a nice girl,
Friendly with all the kids in the park
It’s a shame that she is evaluated on just the marks
Her mom says that not scoring good grades will make her a failure in life
Realizing this, she feels distraught and begins to cry…

Joker

The child looked at him and smiled
The bright smile, the twinkle in her eyes
Everything about her made him cry

He smiled back and carried on with his work
As he fumbled and stumbled, visibly disturbed
He tried again and down he fell
And she laughed hysterically, her face turned red

But there was something in her laugh that made him cry
For this child was suffering from a deadly disease inside
Thinking of that his throat went dry
God only knows how long she’ll live and when she’ll die
But he was a joker and it his job to make her smile
Make as many moments enjoyable before she dies…

The Warrior

The Warrior

The lone warrior stood on the battleground
As the corpses lay all around
The ones he had killed with his bare hands
A twinge of pain and sorrow for their deaths he felt

Some of them, young innocent men
Dying for a cause which did not even affect them
Why did they come to this cursed battle to die
What about their families, thinking of them he cried…

But life is fair his master had taught
These men deserved to die, that’s why they fought
But what about him, the one who remains alive
With their blood on his hands, how will he survive

Soon his people will come to take him away
Back to his land, where there’ll be parties night and day
But when he returns home and meets his mother again
Won’t he hear the cries of mothers whose sons he has slain

Isn’t it a curse to be alive
And feel the pain of parents whose sons have died
But then as his master said
Some die in battles and pay their dues with their life
While others win wars and stay alive, only to suffer every moment of their wretched lives …

The Meeting

The Meeting

He saw her at the market
The uneasiness that he felt
The lovely face, the sparkle in the eyes – the feelings that she beget
Shall I go and meet her, or do I just hide
That was the dilemma that he dwelt…

Then she saw him and smiled
The past memories came back in both their minds
The joyful moments and her smile
The pain of separation and how he cried deep inside

Then he went to meet her and awkwardly smiled
She asked how are you doing, is everything fine
He said you know I loved you and wanted you to be my wife
She replied with a Hmm and moved on with her life…

A Soldier of Life

A soldier of life

You are a soldier of life
Trying to be happy with all your might
Even when times are not right
And your adversaries give you a fright

The one who’s challenged at work everyday
And face emotional and physical stress in every way
The stress of the modern life
Handled with courage from the love from the kids and wife

The pain and disappointments that you daily endure
The frustration and boredom of daily chores
But at all times you maintain a cool smile
Because you are a soldier, fighting this battle called life
