Smiles to give before I weep

Smiles to give before I weep

Who caused these wounds I think I know.
His memory lives in my heart though;
He will not know I am thinking about him
To feel his wounds fill my heart and grow.

My little mind must think it queer
To think about him without him being near
And feeling the wounds and the frozen heart
The darkest evening of the year.

The mind gives heart a little shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the weep
Of shattered heart and broken dreams .

The wounds are painful, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And smiles to give before I weep,
And smiles to give before I weep.

A young boy looks at the blind man
Who’s trying to cross the road if he can
Blind man is tense and scared
As the cars speed by and their horns blared

Boy approached the man and said
I’ll help you out old man, don’t you dread
The traffic on the road right now is heavy
But don’t you worry
Together we’ll cross the road and you’ll be on your way safely

The blind man feels relieved and smiled
Thanks the god for this caring child
The boy grabs the man’s hand
And together they start to cross the road
As they reach the middle he saw
His sweetheart who’s looking frantically for him, deep in her thought
In his excitement he leaves the blind man and ran
To his girlfriend who’s waiting for him as per their plan

The blind man suddenly notices the absence
Of the young boy, and begins to feel tense
Worried about the speeding cars
He stumbles as he senses them coming to him speeding from afar

But then something in him gives him confidence
To cross the road, he trusts his instincts and god’s providence
So what if the young boy has left him mid way
He has his learning, instinct and god’s support to find his own way …

The Strong Willed Child

The Strong Willed Child

The child sits in her room and cries alone
She just wants to stay at home
Where she is loved and wanted
Not like the school which she thinks is haunted
With spirits that are hell bent to torment her
Calling her names, her classmates tease and mock her

But her parents would not understand her pain
They tell her that she needs to go to school, for education needs to be gained
But what about the nasty kids and bullies
Who make her life a hell, truly

So what if she is not the popular child around
The one who is voted the best and given the beauty crown
Does it mean she needs to be hurt everyday
By others calling her rude names, that echo in her mind night and day

Then she realizes that her mother is right
It’s her life and she needs to fight
There will be people pulling her down with all their might
But the true winners in life are not the prettiest but those who do what is right

She decides she doesn’t need to conform to any group
To mimic all the mean children and be a part of their troop
She’ll focus on her studies and be brave and strong
And will no longer worry about the bullies and be headstrong…

The Sad Child

The Sad Child

Mother sitting with a child
A piece of paper in hand and tension in her mind
She is sad, she is angry
She can’t understand why
Her daughter won’t try
And learn her lessons for exams
Is it really so difficult – she cries out and asks…

She really wants her child to succeed in life
Have good education, get a good job and lead a comfortable life
But the child is probably too young to understand this formality
Without getting good grades, you won’t succeed – that unfortunately is the stark reality

Her daughter, a seven year old child
Gets scared and begins to cry
And replies…
I study hard and learn my lesson, mother
But get confused while writing the exam- was it this or the other?

She looks at her mother and feels sad
Her mother is disappointed in her and thinks she’s bad
She really wants to do well and make her mother proud
If only her mind would work well in exams and not have so many doubts

She is really a nice girl,
Friendly with all the kids in the park
It’s a shame that she is evaluated on just the marks
Her mom says that not scoring good grades will make her a failure in life
Realizing this, she feels distraught and begins to cry…

Joker

The child looked at him and smiled
The bright smile, the twinkle in her eyes
Everything about her made him cry

He smiled back and carried on with his work
As he fumbled and stumbled, visibly disturbed
He tried again and down he fell
And she laughed hysterically, her face turned red

But there was something in her laugh that made him cry
For this child was suffering from a deadly disease inside
Thinking of that his throat went dry
God only knows how long she’ll live and when she’ll die
But he was a joker and it his job to make her smile
Make as many moments enjoyable before she dies…

The Warrior

The Warrior

The lone warrior stood on the battleground
As the corpses lay all around
The ones he had killed with his bare hands
A twinge of pain and sorrow for their deaths he felt

Some of them, young innocent men
Dying for a cause which did not even affect them
Why did they come to this cursed battle to die
What about their families, thinking of them he cried…

But life is fair his master had taught
These men deserved to die, that’s why they fought
But what about him, the one who remains alive
With their blood on his hands, how will he survive

Soon his people will come to take him away
Back to his land, where there’ll be parties night and day
But when he returns home and meets his mother again
Won’t he hear the cries of mothers whose sons he has slain

Isn’t it a curse to be alive
And feel the pain of parents whose sons have died
But then as his master said
Some die in battles and pay their dues with their life
While others win wars and stay alive, only to suffer every moment of their wretched lives …

Togetherness

She waits for him to come back from work
It’s late but there is something that she needs to talk
She’s been thinking about it a lot
And for days, in her mind, she has fought

There was a time when he loved her still
And cared for her and paid attention to everything she speaks
But now that the love is gone
Buried in the worries of the world to which they belong…

She is still young and she
Can still fight the world, but does She still have the will to start again?

The door-bell rings, he returns back home
Lost and tired, she can see the pain he has borne
He looks at her surprised
And asks what’s up my wife

She smiles and says she loves him
She knows that even if she leaves him
She will come back again
She can never leave him this way
Cause the bond they have is stronger than the love gone astray…
